Daily routine on Kilimanjaro

Climbers with us on Kilimanjaro are never under pressure to rush to meet stringent timings and that is even more true on a private climb. However we do aim to be amongst the first to leave camp in the morning to ensure we are ahead of the crowds, particularly in high season.

Our porters always leave camp after us, but they will pass us during the day's trek to ensure they hit the next camp early to secure the best camping spot. It also means that we experience the best of the day's weather as cloud can tend to build up in the afternoon. These timings also allow for an acclimatisation excursion in the afternoon at the next camp following our "walk high, sleep low" philosophy.

Generally, you will be woken at 6.00-6.30 a.m. with a hot drink, after which you need to get your personal belongings packed back into your kit bags and and get prepared for the day's trek before you have breakfast at 7.00 – 7.30 a.m. This will then allow your tent to be taken down and packaged away by the team and we will aim to start trekking by 8.00 – 8.30 a.m.

Over breakfast the guides will review with you once more the plan for the day and check if any one has any problems or concerns.

On arrival into the next camp you will be provided with hot water for a wash and there will be drinks and snacks before dinner.

After dinner each day your guides will meet you for a de-brief on the day, to discuss any concerns you may have and to explain what is in store for the next day.
